The policy in plain terms
Buy a container from us, and if your plans change within the first 12 months, we'll buy it back at 80% of what you paid. No consignment, no waiting on a private buyer, no arranging your own pickup.
What 80% actually looks like
Bought a used 20' Wind & Watertight for $2,500? We'd buy it back for $2,000. Paid $3,800 for a new 20' Standard? That's a $3,040 buyback. The number moves with whatever you actually paid — no negotiation, no appraisal games.
That 80% is calculated on the container price only — delivery isn't part of it. If you paid $100 to have it delivered, that $100 isn't included in the buyback; you're getting 80% of what the container itself cost, not the container-plus-delivery total.
What condition it needs to be in
The buyback works best for a container close to the condition we sold it — normal wear and cosmetic marks are expected and don't affect it. We recommend against structural changes — cutting in extra doors or windows, adding insulation, or otherwise altering the box itself. That's not an automatic disqualifier, but if a container comes back modified, the buyback price is at our discretion rather than the standard 80%.
Why we offer it
Buying a shipping container is a bigger commitment than renting one, and plans change — a renovation gets cancelled, a business need turns out to be temporary, a farm operation shifts. A buyback guarantee means that risk doesn't fall entirely on you. It's also just a more honest way to sell: we're confident enough in the container and the price that we're willing to be the backstop if things don't work out.
The alternative is doing it yourself
Without a buyback option, getting out from under a container you don't need anymore means listing it yourself, fielding lowball offers, and arranging transport for a 5,000+ lb steel box — not a quick or simple process. Calling us instead is one phone call.
