Used units are graded Wind & Watertight, Cargo Worthy, or As-Is, with any dents, rust, or issues disclosed up front so you know exactly what you're getting. Wind & Watertight units carry a 5-year warranty, Cargo Worthy units a 10-year warranty.

Not necessarily! While it is preferred to have containers on a level gravel or crushed stone pad or concrete, we can also put the container on grass or dirt. We just recommend setting it up on pressure-treated blocks to provide airflow for reducing moisture — we provide the blocks as part of delivery.

It depends entirely on your town, not the state — neither New Hampshire nor Vermont has one blanket rule. Most towns judge it on how it's used and how permanent it is: a container used purely for storage, especially short-term or without a foundation, often falls under the radar in a lot of rural towns, while a permanent placement, a foundation, or hooking up power/plumbing is more likely to trigger a permit requirement. Agricultural and rural-zoned lots tend to be the most permissive; village and residential districts are more likely to ask questions. Since this is set town-by-town, the only way to know for sure is a quick call to your local zoning or building office — we're happy to talk through placement with you, but we can't make that call for you.

There's no New Hampshire or Vermont state law that outright bans building a home out of a shipping container, but there's also no blanket law that makes it easy — it comes down to your specific town's zoning and building code. Unlike a storage container just sitting on your property, a container home is a dwelling, so it has to meet the same residential building code as any house: insulation, egress windows, electrical, plumbing, a real foundation, and a building permit, plus your town's zoning has to allow it in that district. Some towns have handled container homes before and have a clear process; others haven't and will need more back-and-forth. If you're considering this, start with your town's building department before you buy — we can help with the container itself, but the home-building side is between you and your local code office.

We prefer to have at least 60 ft. in a straight line for a 20 ft. container to unload and 100 ft. in a straight line for a 40 ft. container to unload. If you're unsure if you have enough space or have tight corners or a tricky location, give us a call and we'll talk it through.

Rentals run a 3-month minimum. We are based in Piermont, NH, with a flat $100 delivery within our 20-mile zone.

Your first payment covers three things: the first month's rent, the delivery fee to get the container to you, and a pickup fee that covers us coming back to collect it whenever your rental ends. After that, it's just the monthly rent until you're done.

Terms run 12–48 months, and every quote is worked out case-by-case based on the container and delivery. Pay it off early after 91 days and get 33% off your remaining balance. Once approved, we schedule delivery from our own lot and set the container in place ourselves — the same hands-on delivery you'd get with any purchase.

No — there's no interest or principal. It's a month-to-month rental agreement, and once you finish your term, you own the container. No hidden fees.

Yes — through our rent-to-own program. Our partner, My Container Rental, doesn't run a credit check before approving you and doesn't report to credit agencies. It's a month-to-month rental, not a loan, so approval is based on your application, not your credit score — and decisions are typically same-day.

If you bought your container and things change, we'll buy it back from you for 80% of what you paid — as long as it's within your first 12 months of ownership. No need to sell it yourself or let it sit unused.

Yes — come walk our lot at 321 Route 10, Piermont and hand-pick the exact unit you want. Can't make it out? We'll send photos and video of your specific container before it ever leaves the yard, so there's no surprise on delivery day — no bait-and-switch, no "representative photo."

Not much — these are built to sit outside for decades, but a few habits help. Touch up any bare metal or scratches with rust-inhibiting paint before rust gets a foothold, and keep brush or leaves cleared away from the base so moisture doesn't sit against the walls. If your container's sitting on dirt or grass rather than gravel, make sure there's still air space underneath it and jack it back up as the ground settles over time — on gravel, you're all set and won't need to worry about that. A little grease on the locking bar hardware once or twice a year keeps everything swinging smoothly.
